Chapter 6 English Sentences (sometimes would be scolded)

Ch06-01 Argue with friend
  • Did something happen with your friend?
  • I really don't like Joe.
  • I'm never going to talk to him again.
  • I don't want to play with him anymore.
  • Jise hit me.
  • Friends shouldn't fight.
  • Friends shouldn't curse at each other. (curse 罵、詛咒)
  • Friends should get along well.
  • If you keep fighting, I won't let you hang out together.
  • Apologize to your friend. (apologize 道歉)
  • Did you say sorry?
  • Your friend is probably regretting it, too. (probably 可能 regret 後悔)
  • Your friend made you upset.
  • Why did he do that?
  • But you shouldn't hate your friend.
  • How about talking to your friend about your feelings?
  • Why don't you try talking to him first?
  • Put yourself in his/her shoes. (Put oneself in one's shoes. 站在~的立場) 
Ch06-02 Argue with brother or sister
  • What are you two doing?
  • Are you fighting?
  • He started it.
  • It doesn't matter who started it. (matter 重要,成為問題)
  • Apologize to each other.
  • If you guys argue, Mommy feels hurt. (argue 爭吵)
  • You shouldn't hit your sister.
  • I told you that you should not hit your sister.
  • You should be nice to your sister.
  • You should look after your sister.
  • You are older, so let your brother do it.
  • Don't be rude to your brother and talk like that. (rude 無禮)
  • Don't spit. (spit 吐口水)
  • You'll get a timeout if you spit again. (timeout 面壁思過)
  • Mommy is really mad. (mad 生氣)
  • Shake hands with your sister.
  • Give him a hug.
  • You both want to get punished? (punished 罰)
  • You both are grounded now. (grounded 禁足)
  • Won't you stop right this minute? (right this minute 馬上)
  • Who just screamed? (scream 尖叫)
  • Are you going to do it again?
  • Does it seem right to argue with your older sister?
  • You shouldn't demand but ask. (demand 要求、命令)
  • You are a big brother. Please act mature. (成熟的)
  • You are not responsible as a big sister.
  • Didn't you promise you wouldn't fight?
  • You know you might get a timeout, huh?
  • I won't ever fight again.
  • You two both were wrong.
  • Brothers/Sisters should be friends.
Ch06-03 Clamoring to buy things
  • I want this, Mom.
  • Can you buy me this? Please!
  • Mommy can't afford it. (afford 給予)
  • I didn't bring any money.
  • You should not be demanding. (demanding 要求很多)
  • It's too expensive!
  • It's too much for an elementary school student.
  • Why are you so demanding?
  • You have the same thing at home.
  • Don't be silly! (silly 傻)
  • I know you want it, but not now.
  • No means no! (mean 意思、意義)
  • When can I get it?
  • Let's get it next time.
  • Mom, you always say next time.
  • Mommy, you buy everything you want.
  • You always buy things for my brother but not for me.
  • Only this time. This is the last time. I promise.
  • Mommy doesn't get everything.
  • Why don't you buy it with your allowance? (allowance 零用錢)
  • These aren't for kids.
  • This food isn't good for you.
  • We didn't come here for this today.
  • Let's think if it's actually that necessary.
  • Well, we don't have enough money for that right now.
  • People are staring at us. Stop! (staring at 盯著看)
  • Stop looking at it. Let's leave now.
  • The amount will be taken out of your allowance after buy you this. Okay? (taken out of  扣除 = deduct)(amount 金額)
  • You can get this when you collect 30 good job stickers. (sticker 貼紙)
Ch06-04 Distracted 
  • What are you thinking about?
  • What are you doing?
  • Pay attention.
  • What are you looking at?
  • Go ahead, Honey.
  • Speed up! / Hurry up!
  • Are you getting distracted?  (distracted  散漫,注意力分散)
  • Why do you care? It's not your business.
  • I think you're lost. (我想你不知道你在做什麼吧!)
  • Why are you so distracted?
  • What were we doing, Honey?
  • Stop! Look at me.
  • Don't move around. Sit here and listen.
  • How many times should I tell you?
  • Let's focus and finish this. (focus 集中)
  • Stay on that for at least 10 minutes.
  • Do you know what you're doing?
  • What's bothering you? (bother 使費心,使煩惱) (什麼是在煩你呢?)
  • Don't play with your hands.
  • Sit up straight!  (坐好!)
  • Is this what you should be doing? (這是你現在要做的事情嗎?)
  • Do you not want to do this? Do you want to do it next time?
  • I know I have to, but it doesn't work out well. (我知道我要去做,但結果不是很好。)
  • I can't stop thinking about other things.
  • Can I do it later after finishing this comic book?
  • I am trying really hard.
  • It's too difficult to stay focused.
  • One hour is too long for me.
Ch06-05 Lie
  • That's a lie. (lie 說謊,謊言)
  • Why did you lie?
  • I wonder why you lied.
  • I won't scold you, so tell me the truth. (scold 責備 tell the truth 說實話) (我不責備,告訴我實話。)
  • I'm sorry that I lied.
  • I accidentally told a lie. (accidentally 無意地)
  • I lied because I was afraid I would get in trouble. (get in trouble 責罵)
  • Are you going to lie again? (你還會說謊嗎?)
  • Mommy trusts you. You won't do it again, right? (trust 相信)
  • I won't do it again.
  • Thanks for telling the truth.
  • A small lie becomes a big lie.
  • Mommy's upset because you lied.
  • You don't want to be a liar, do you? (liar 說謊的人)
  • It's brave to tell the truth.
  • I hope you won't ever lie to me. (我希望你不會再對我說謊。)

  • It was wrong to do that. (那樣做是不對的。)
  • It was not appropriate. (appropriate 恰當的,正確的) (那是不正確的。)
  • You could be lying without knowing it. (你可能會不自覺地說謊。)
  • It's important to repent. (repent 反省,悔改)
  • If you tell a lie, don't you feel ashamed of yourself? (ashamed of oneself 覺得羞愧)
  • I can tell you are lying. (tell 知道,區分)(我知道你在說謊。)
  • I really hate when people lie to me.
  • Lying is the worst thing in the world.
  • Nobody wants to be with a liar.
Ch06-06 Slowly

  • It's almost time. (時間幾乎快到了。)
  • I'm doing it.
  • Not yet.
  • Can I leave without youu? (我可以撇下你先走嗎?)
  • Wait for me.
  • I'll give you ten minutes.
  • Why do you do this all the time? (為什麼你老是這樣?)
  • I've told you to hurry up a thousand times.
  • I'm sick of it! / I'm tired of it! (be sick / tire of 對~疲倦,對~厭煩)
  • Everyone's waiting for you.
  • Gosh! You're as slow as snail!
  • I'm almost done.
  • It's okay. I can make it on time.

Ch06-07 Naughty(調皮)
  • Hey, hey...Calm down. (clam down 鎮定下來)
  • Stop. You could get hurt.
  • Your friend doesn't like it.
  • That's too much. You should stop.
  • Think about others.
  • It's too fun to stop.
  • I'm going to punish you.
  • Your brother might cry soon.
  • Don't get into trouble.
  • You're disrupting the other people. (disrupt 妨礙)
Ch06-08 Loud
  • It's too loud! (loud 吵)
  • Don't be so loud.
  • Be quiet, you guys!
  • That's too loud. Play quietly. (太吵了,安靜地玩)
  • You need to settle down. (settle down 鎮定) (你需要鎮定一下。)
  • Be quiet and listen to me.
  • Can you be quiet?
  • Can't you quiet down a bit? (quiet down 安靜下來) (你就不能安靜一點嗎?)
  • Stop talking too loud.
  • Sit down and play.
  • Use your inside voice. (inside voice 輕聲細語) (小聲說話。)
  • Could you be quiet since I'm on the phone?
  • I can't hear the other person. (我都聽不到對方的聲音了。)
  • Can you play quiently because Mommy's sick?

  • It's distracting. (distracting 令人分心的) (真的讓人很煩。)
  • My ears are hurting. (hurt 疼痛)
  • How many times do I have to tell you to be quiet?
Ch06-09 Talk back
  • What did you just say?
  • Don't talk back to Mom.
  • Stop talking back. (不要回嘴)
  • You're doing it again!
  • Don't start with me. (不要招惹我)
  • You should control your mouth.
  • Do you think you should talk like that?
  • You keep talking back.
  • Mom, you don't understand.

  • You should have warned me. (warn 告誡)

  • I'm not going to hold back if you say one more word. (hold back 忍耐、耐著性子)
Ch06-10 Rude
  • What do you just do?
  • That's not polite.
  • That's very rude. (rude 無禮的,沒禮貌)
  • Don't be rude.
  • Mom's not your friend.
  • Please behave. (behave 行為舉止有禮貌) (要有禮貌)
  • How could you do such a thing? (such a thing 那樣的事情)
  • You should know better than that. (你應該更懂事)
  • What's the right way to do it? (要怎麼做才是對的)
  • Did your teacher teach you like that?
  • Did Mommy teach you that way?
  • I don't want you to grow up like that.
  • Do you know what you did wrong?
  • Now get it right. (現在,給我好好地做)
  • You don't want to be a rude child, right?
  • Apologize for your behavior. (你要對你的行為道歉)
  • Don't use the word in front of adults. (在大人面前不可以說那樣的話。)
  • Would you be happy if you were him / her? (如果你是他/她的話,你會快樂嗎?)

Ch06-11 Whine
  • Why are you annoyed? (annoyed:生氣的、feel upset、feel bad)
  • Is there something wrong?
  • Stop it. It's really bugging me. (bug:使煩心)
  • What's the problem?
  • What's troubling you?
  • Stop whining. (whine: 滴滴咕咕,發牢騷)
  • I don't want to hear you whine.
  • It's no use whining.
  • I told you not to get upset so easily.
  • Why are you getting angry at Mommy!
  • Please speak calmly.
  • I'm going to listen if you speak properly.
  • Tell me if there's something wrong.
  • Nobady pays attention to me.
  • I am just annoyed. / I just don't feel well.

  • When you're angry, you look ugly.

Ch06-12 Punish
  • I can't stand it!
  • You should be grounded.
  • You deserve punishment, don't you? (deserve 應該受到 punishment 處罰)
  • Tell me what you did wrong.
  • It was not my fault.
  • Timeout! Sit in the Thinking Chair.
  • You know what you did wrong, right?
  • Mommy doesn't want to punish you.
  • But you should be responsible for your actions.
  • Mom, I'm sorry.
  • Please forgive me.
  • I won't ever do it again.
  • You can't watch TV because of your wrongdoing.
  • You're grounded and can't use the computer because of what you did today. (be grounded 被禁止做~以作為處罰)
  • Don't just say sorry.
  • Go write an apology letter.
  • It's all for your own good.
Ch06-13 Apology
  • Say sorry to each other.
  • Who want to apologize first? (apologize 道歉)
  • I'm sorry.
  • I mean it. (我是誠心道歉。)
  • I'll be careful next time.
  • Shake hands with each other.
  • Look at each other in the eyes and say sorry.
  • Don't balme others for that. (blame 指責)
  • Say sorry sincerely.
  • Let's make sure this never happens again. All right?
  • Let's get along. (我們和好吧。)
  • I didn't do it on purpose. (on purpose 故意、特意)
  • I didn't mean it that way. (我不是那個意思。)
  • It was a mistake. I'm really sorry. (我錯了。真的很對不起。)
  • You own me a big apology. (own 欠 applogy 道歉)(你欠我一個道歉。)
Ch06-14 Get along
  • I'm so sorry for that.
  • Were you really upset?
  • Think for yourself. It was your fault.
  • Did you hate me because I scolded you? (scold 罵,責備)
  • Mommy was really upset, too. (媽媽也很不開心。)
  • Why did you let out a huge sigh? (let out 發出(呻吟等)) (sigh 嘆息)
  • Is it very disappointing? (這很令人失望嗎?)
  • You must have been devastated. (devastated 受很大的刺激)
  • I want you to grow up to be a wonderful person.
  • Can I hug you now?
  • Come here. I'll give you a kiss.
  • You know how Mommy feels, right?
  • Don't be upset anymore.
  • Can I trust you now?
  • Mommy trusts you.
  • Want to eat something delicious?
  • Want to go for a walk? (go for a walk 散步)
  • I was scared when you were mad, Mommy.
  • I didn't do it because I hated you.
  • Mommy was too mean. I'm sorry. (mean 脾氣暴躁)
  • But you are still my loving baby.
